I have always been opposed to those who claim wealth and prosperity are God's signs of blessing. I have always been opposed to those who claim that wealth and prosperity are due to believer. I have always been leary of those who say that all we need to do is consistently pray for God's blessing on our lives and He will lavish us with blessings and wealth. Wealth and prosperity are not necessarily a sign of God's blessing, nor of God's favor. It is NOT due to us. What is DUE us is a living eternity of torment in Hell. What is NOT DUE us is the glory of heaven and the never ending presence of an almighty God. Things are not as they seem or as we might think they are. This kind of thinking (i.e. the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel) is purely humanistic and worldly. It is American.
John Piper says this in probably the best way possible. Watch this and think.
