- Romans 2 - Jesus Christ. He is the standard by His character and nature. The Law was given to the Jews to point them to Christ. However, Paul says that when the Gentiles, who do not have the Law, do instinctively the things of the Law, it reveals that God has written on to their hearts and consciences. It is all done in order to point us to Christ. His righteousness and perfection is the standard.
- Matthew 7:21-23 - Is our profession of faith supported by lives of obedience and repentance?
- Matthew 25:31-46 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by a sincere love and service towards the needs of others?
- Luke 12:47-48 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by a desire to do and an obedience to the will of God?
- Ephesians 4:1 - Is our profession of faith marked by a life that has been walked in a way that is worthy of the calling God has placed on it?
- Hebrews 11:1-12 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by obedience and action? Do we live in such a way that we show we truly believe that God will follow through on His word?
- James 2:14-26 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by obedience and good works? If our faith is genuine, it will produce results.
- 1 John 1:8-2:6 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by lives of repentance and a turning away from sin?
As I look at this list, I fear my life is not reflective enough of the work of God in my life and I realize how short I fall. I am all the more grateful that it is God who is at work in me both to will and to do His good will!
