God's Standard of Judging

By what standard will God judge people who claim to have faith in Christ?  

1. Romans 2 - Jesus Christ.  He is the standard by His character and nature.  The Law was given to the Jews to point them to Christ.  However, Paul says that when the Gentiles, who do not have the Law, do instinctively the things of the Law, it reveals that God has written on to their hearts and consciences.  It is all done in order to point us to Christ.  His righteousness and perfection is the standard.
2. Matthew 7:21-23 - Is our profession of faith supported by lives of obedience and repentance?
3. Matthew 25:31-46 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by a sincere love and service towards the needs of others?
4. Luke 12:47-48 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by a desire to do and an obedience to the will of God?
5. Ephesians 4:1 - Is our profession of faith marked by a life that has been walked in a way that is worthy of the calling God has placed on it?
6. Hebrews 11:1-12 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by obedience and action?  Do we live in such a way that we show we truly believe that God will follow through on His word?
7. James 2:14-26 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by obedience and good works?  If our faith is genuine, it will produce results.
8. 1 John 1:8-2:6 - Is our profession of faith evidenced by lives of repentance and a turning away from sin?

As I look at this list, I fear my life is not reflective enough of the work of God in my life and I realize how short I fall.  I am all the more grateful that it is God who is at work in me both to will and to do His good will!

Does this not describe Satan?  His not his only desire to see the world burn?  Satan is pure evil.  The thoughts and desires to fill his heart are bent are destroying God's creation and taking as many men to Hell with him as possible.  Don't believe this?  Look at our world.  Look at the evil all around you.  Look at how the homosexuals are trying to rewrite the meaning of family.  Look at how the they are trying to push for the right to allow men who dress like woman to use the woman's restrooms.  Look at how they are trying to tax churches.  Look at how they are trying to remove God from our society.  Look at how how men commit murder and get away with it.  Look at the millions of babies who are murdered each year legally.  

Yes, you had better believe it.  Satan is bent on destroying everything that God has created.  He is pure evil who works nonstop and tirelessly to destroy you, your family, and all that God loves.  

Why is it then that we, having such an enemy, such a nemesis who is out to destroy us, stand by idly and allow him to do it.  We are in the fiercest battle of all the ages and we are not even engaging the enemy or providing an adequate defense.

Believe it, the DEVIL WANTS TO WATCH THE WORLD BURN.  And we are sitting by and watching.

Typed from memory.

I am committing to doing better with committing God's Word to memory.  This is one of the verses I worked on this last week.  Each time I commit one to memory, I will record it here.  My prayer is that my life will be overtaken by God's Word and that my heart and mind will think on nothing else.

"Jehoiachin changed his prison clothes--and he dined regularly in the presence of the king of Babylon for the rest of his life. As for his allowance, a regular allowance was given to him by the king, a portion for each day, for the rest of his life." 2 Kings 25:29-30

Jehoiachin was not sent away from the king's palace with a 'supply' to last him for months--but his provision was given him as a daily pension. Herein he well pictures the happy position of all the Lord's people. A daily portion is all that a man really needs. We do not need tomorrow's portion; for that day has not yet dawned, and its needs are as yet unborn. The thirst which we may suffer in the month of June--does not need to be quenched in February, for we do not feel it yet. If we have enough for each day as the days arrive--we shall never know want. Sufficient for the day--is all that we can enjoy.

We cannot eat or wear more than the day's supply of food and clothing. Any surplus gives us the care of storing it, and the anxiety of watching against a thief. One staff aids a traveler--but a bundle of staffs  is a heavy burden. Enough is not only as good as a feast--but is all that the greatest glutton can truly enjoy. Enough is all that we should expect--a craving for more than this, is ungrateful. When our Father does not give us more--we should be content with His daily allowance.

Jehoiachin's case is ours--we have . . .
  a sure portion;
  a portion given to us by the King;
  a gracious portion;
  and a perpetual portion. 
Here is surely ground for thankfulness. 

Beloved Christian reader, in matters of grace--you need a daily supply. You have no storeof grace. Day by day must you seek help from above. It is a very sweet assurance--that a daily portion is provided for you. In the Word, by meditation, in prayer, and waiting upon God--you shall receive renewed grace and strength. In Jesus, all needful things are laid up for you. Never go hungry--while the daily bread of grace is on the table of mercy! Enjoy your continual allowance!
